We are Smart DCC

Together we're building a greener tomorrow

Connecting every home and business to a single, secure smart meter network is a huge undertaking. So you can imagine the scale – and variety – and opportunities for the people who'll help us do it.

The role

London or Manchester (Hybrid working model, 8 days a month office based)

Competitive Salary plus performance related bonus

Shape the future of the UK’s digital energy infrastructure.

At DCC, we’re building the secure network that underpins the UK’s smart metering system—driving innovation, enabling the energy transition, and shaping a smarter, greener future for everyone. As our Senior Strategy Manager, you’ll be at the heart of that mission.

The Role

As a Senior Strategy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping DCC’s strategic direction and lead our market intelligence capability. You’ll work closely with the Head of Strategy, Director of Strategy, and senior leaders across the business—including members of the Executive Team and subject matter experts—to ensure our medium- and long-term plans are informed by internal priorities and external market dynamics.

While the role has no direct reports, you’ll coach and support our Strategy Analyst and collaborate across functions to deliver impactful, data-driven insights and strategies.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the delivery and communication of strategic materials across DCC, ensuring alignment and clarity on medium-term priorities.
  • Design and implement a robust market intelligence approach, turning insight into strategic recommendations.
  • Produce regular strategic insight outputs—quarterly reports, deep dives, annual assessments—to support decision-making.
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance DCC’s strategic influence and awareness.
  • Facilitate the development and refresh of functional strategies to ensure alignment with DCC’s wider business objectives.
  • Coach and mentor the Strategy Analyst, fostering growth and impactful contribution.
  • Support ad hoc strategic initiatives with analysis, narrative development, and stakeholder engagement.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience applying strategic and business analysis frameworks—ideally in regulated sectors such as utilities, government, or energy.
  • Strong understanding of the UK energy sector and a passion for the energy transition.
  • Exceptional communication skills—comfortable developing and delivering high-quality reports, briefings, and presentations up to Board level.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills; highly collaborative with a strategic mindset.
  • Organised and capable of managing multiple priorities—project management and informal people leadership experience a plus.

What can I expect from the application process?

The application process will be detailed on each job description page, but generally includes a chat with a recruiter followed by two or three interviews. For some roles you'll also be asked to prepare a presentation in advance of one of these interviews. See our latest jobs and apply.

Where can I get support with my application and interview?

For a perm or contract role, you can talk to your recruiter. Or, if you're a contractor applying through a third party, speak to your agency or umbrella company. Some roles require a short presentation during interview stage, but you'll always be notified in advance so you have time to prepare.

What kind of diversity and inclusion programmes do you offer?
